ALL ABOUT 2018 WORLD CUP FINAL

The 2018 world cup which was hosted by Russia started June 14, 2018 with Russia and Saudi Arabia opening the tournament in Moscow, the tournament was full of surprises first was the defending champions Germany not being able to scale through the group stage not only that they exited the tournament  they were the last with only three (3) points point in their group, the shock did not stop coming as all African teams also exited the group, the exit of Germany diverted the attention of the world shifted to other teams which seems to be favorites, the likes of Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, not neglecting the team of the 2017 world best player (Christiano Ronaldo) and the host nation Russia.

The world waited to see the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo be brought into the tournament as this “may be” their last world cup appearance but that revelation was never seen, as other teams did not come to the tournament to watch the beauty of Russia they also came to compete.

The shock of Germany exit was not enough other favorites began to make their way out Spain, Argentina and Portugal exiting in the round of 16. As if that was not enough Uruguay and Brazil exited in the quarter final and for the first time a Brazilian striker couldn’t hit the back of the net after 5 matches and not even an assist, and these made the tournament an interesting one as shocks kept coming unexpectedly with only France remaining as the team with most world cup experience.

The world cup was indeed an interesting one with the introduction of a technology Video Assistant Referee (VAR) which detected fouls and penalties which many still consider as controversial, it is also the world cup with the highest amount of own goals, and Diego Maradona being fined and removed from his position in FIFA for a racist act towards the Nigerian team in a last group game which Argentina won two (2) goals to one (1).

2018 WORLD CUP FINAL

The 2018 FIFA world cup which was played in Moscow July 15, 2018 was between France and Croatia.

France is not entirely new in a world cup final game, but this is exactly 20years they since won the FIFA world cup in 1998, they were almost invincible with only one draw with Peru at the group stage and their coach Didier  Deschamps  being the first coach who has won the world cup as a player and a coach, and Croatia playing a world cup final for the first time and being the team which played the highest minutes in the 2018 FIFA world cup, credits to their coach Zlatko Dalic and the team because no one expected them to surface in the final though they lost 4-2 to France.
